This winter, Cabot Circus will be kicking off the Christmas season by switching on Bristol’s Christmas Lights and getting everyone in the festive mood. On Friday, 6th November, special guests Warwick Davis and Andy Ford who will both be starring in this year’s pantomime production of Snow White at the Bristol Hippodrome, will lead the crowd in the countdown to the big switch on.
Set to be a magical affair, a choir will begin proceedings at 4.45pm with heartening singing at The Galleries. A procession will then be led through Broadmead and into Quakers Friars, before heading towards Cabot Circus for the evening’s headline event at 6pm. A final chorus will be sung as excited spectators wait in wonder for the bedazzling display.
As well as illuminating Bristol City Centre, the joyous occasion will feature all kinds of merriment. With production company Cirque Bijou being the creative minds behind the evening, you can expect exploding confetti over the gathered crowds, thrilling acrobatic performances and spectacular installations set to ignite even the smallest of imaginations.
Melanie Bruce-Roberts, Marketing Manager at Cabot Circus, says:
“We are delighted to once again host the switch on of Bristol City Centre’s Christmas lights display. This year’s entertainment is set to be the best yet, and with exciting special guests joining us this is one evening you won’t want to miss!”
Jo Hawkins from Destination Bristol adds:
“It’s great to again be working in partnership with Cabot Circus on this event which heralds the start of the Christmas shopping period in Bristol Shopping Quarter.”
Colin Lang, Centre Manager of The Galleries, says:
“We are very happy to be part of the light switch on event again with everything starting in The Galleries. The arrival of Santa is naturally always popular, especially with our younger customers!”
